RHYMING PAIRS
Drown Final.
For my rhyming pair drown clown I started out with pencil sketches with various iterations and then took it into Adobe Illustrator for my finish. I used my sketches as a guide and filled the rest in with only the pen tool. In the first iterations I was exploring imagery and I wanted to explore a dark illustrative approach putting emphasis on a circus background or other key indicators to this being a clown, but in the end, I decided to zoom in and push the emphasis of the piece to the action of drowning. That is because in my first attempts at this piece it was hard to connect the imagery to clown drown, and you can see that in my first finish down below. When creating this first finish, I was inspired by black and white sketches and drawings that I wanted this piece to have a similar feel to, but I decided that the style I was going for was a little to overdone in my piece and again it didn't convey drown enough for viewers.
First Finish
GUN RUN
For my collage of the rhyming pair gun run, I once again started with multiple sketch iterations of this pair and then took this final idea into photoshop. The process of creating this collage was much more extensive and heavily based off the collages I picked out as inspiration which were very geometric and reminded me of a magazine kind of quality that I wanted to replicate. To make that happen I first built the background up using various images- i made the track myself by collaging 5 different red photos I sourced and toned them all down to this light pink color using some of the blending modes. I then cut the white lines out of the track using the pen tool and tracing the track lines from an image of an actual track. I then built the sky and grass but once again just collaging and skewing multiple photos together. Finally, I added the bullets, running legs, and gun to the image to create "GUN RUN".
